On April 29, 2011, FTW, Inc. (a Junior Achievement company started by San Pedro High School students) won a category at the Junior Achievement Entrepreneurial Competitions known as JA Competitive Edge. The full title of the award they received: "Best Corporate Social Responsibility Project," and this was for the Board of Directors group of competing teams. Congratulations, students!
The purpose of the Junior Achievement Inspiration Bowl is to raise money for Junior Achievement which can then be used to benefit students at San Pedro High School who desire to participate in JA Finance Park.
The Junior Achievement Budget Challenge, which has been described as "Reality without the risk" and the "School of Soft Knocks", is an excellent program for teaching financial responsibility to our students.
Special thanks to Junior Achievement of Southern California, Dr. Richard Vladovic, LAUSD Board Member, David Kooper, Chief of Staff, Beyond the Bell and the Offices of Councilwoman Janice Hahn for making this experience possible for our students.
