Police Academy Magnet
The Police Academy Magnet at San Pedro High School is a four-year program that focuses on a career in law enforcement. Students enrolled in our program participate in four years of physical training, specialized forensic science and law classes as well as computer training. We service students in grades 9 – 12 and our enrollment capacity is 113. We have a primary partnership with the Los Angeles Police Department. The Department provides a sworn officer to work with the students in the program daily and that officer is assigned to our school site. The officer is the backbone of the program because she provides the tie to law enforcement. Other partners include Sony Picture Studios and Advanced Tech Security. These companies provide summer internships, special events and funding to the students in our program.
